The Chebarkul fortress defended the south-eastern borders of the Russian State and was a transit station on the way of provisions’ delivery to the Cossack troops of the South Ural. Despite the fact that there are industrial enterprises in the city, Chebarkul is the center of the “Chelyabinsk country of health”, of the resort area of the region (based on the lakes Kisegach and Elovoe).
